When revisiting clients in Brighton to design their front garden, the focus was on creating a Japanese ikebana-inspired space that could be appreciated primarily from the house and the pavement, rather than serving as an access route. The clients expressed a desire for a tranquil garden featuring a prominent feature plant.
Leveraging salvaged flagstone paving from the site, a new pathway was artfully crafted to guide the viewer's gaze. Embracing the principles of Japanese gardens, a minimal planting palette was selected to create a harmonious and serene atmosphere. The centerpiece of the design is a Pinus Mugo, chosen as the feature plant, which adds a distinctive element to the landscape.
To further enhance the contemplative ambiance, the client plans to incorporate a screen behind the Pinus Mugo. The overall result is a quiet, meditative space that reflects the essence of Japanese garden design and provides a visually captivating experience for both the homeowners and passersby.
